The Unforgivable Me…..

Shame!

The darkness surrounds me!

Suffocating, choking, unrelenting!

Can’t escape its grip,

Forever a prisoner of my sinful acts, forever trapped!

In the total dismal abyss of my guilt I reach up,

God help me,

But why, I am unforgiveable!

Wallowing in my despair, can’t breathe, no air!

Leave me here Lord, I deserve my pain,

For the things I have done, my soul is stained!

Leave me in the hell I have made!

From the darkness He tears open the veil!

The light, so bright, so perfect!

I strain to see, yet I see so clearly.

As He reaches down and lifts me up,

I feel Hope, despair is fading.

He embraces me like I’ve never been held before!

The darkness has vanished!

The pain has disappeared!

My Lord saved me, the moment He was pierced!

My prison was not of His doing, but of mine!

I just had to seek His face, which is so divine!

He was always there, I just turned away.

My pain was His pain,

when He suffered on that Good Friday!

I tried to fix me, I tried to play His part!

As He held me He gently whispered in my ear,

Child, I never left your side,

you have nothing to fear.

Your failures are nothing new to me,

Your shame is not your cross to bear.

Don’t ever believe the prince of the air,

when he tells you that I don’t care.

The moment you were born,

I knew the things you would do,

All you had to do is look for me,

REPENT, and I will make you NEW!

You say you are unforgivable, that is a lie Satan wants you to believe,

I forgave you the moment, the moment you first believed!

My Brethren – Celebrate Recovery!

Do you belong to club or a group of like-minded people that you get together frequently? This could be a bowling league, the Elks Lodge, car or motorcycle clubs, whatever it is for you, it makes you feel welcome and at home.

Celebrate Recovery is that for me…..

OK, you say, I’ll bite……. What is Celebrate Recovery?

Let me first preface my post with a disclaimer that I am sharing what Celebrate Recovery (CR) has done for me. I am not a spokesperson or affiliated with this amazing program, I just want everybody to know it does exist and that it can help you like it has helped me! If anything posted about CR is inaccurate, please let me know and I will make sure to make a retraction or correction.

Celebrate Recovery (CR) is a Christ-centered, 12 step recovery program for anyone struggling with hurt, pain or addiction of any kind. Celebrate Recovery is a safe place to find community and freedom from the issues that are controlling our life.

It is freedom from the weight of your past and current hurts, physical or emotional pain and struggles with ongoing addictions. I don’t know about you, but that is probably everybody currently alive on this planet. The best part about CR is that we all know we are broken….. We embrace it, own it, feel it, don’t judge each other for, and are freed from our prison and chains because of it. It is my Forever Family!

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.

Romans 3: 23-24

We do not apologize for our Faith in Jesus Christ! We need Him! We are saved by His Grace for which we do not deserve nor can we ever earn! The price paid for this gift cannot be more clear.

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Romans 5: 8

But why Celebrate in your misery? Why do you get together once a week and joyfully commiserate in your sin? There are many out there that go to AA, NA, grief groups or any other amazing organizations to help people through whatever struggles they are going through….. The one missing piece to the puzzle these other organizations are missing is……. Jesus Christ! You really cannot fully grasp the freedom found in a relationship with Him until you actually are in it. I might as well be speaking a foreign language to many out there that are reading this.

Maybe I can explain this way…. Imagine if you will that you have committed a crime. It doesn’t matter what crime, just pick any one that comes to mind…… You are guilty no matter what because you did commit the crime and your fingerprints are all over it. You go to court and stand in front of the judge. You know deep in your heart that you deserve whatever punishment that is going to be handed out. The judge asks you how you plea…. You confess to the judge “I am guilty“! It doesn’t take the judge any time to deliberate your verdict….. He looks at you with loving eyes of Grace and Mercy and says, “My Child, you are not Guilty”!

It doesn’t make sense….. It goes against every principle you have been taught in this world…. But that is the difference….. Jesus is Not Of This World! His justice is not by our standards of justice, His justice is perfect! Who are we to judge?

Jesus answered, “My Kingdom is not an earthly kingdom. If it were, my followers would fight to keep me from being handed over to the Jewish leaders. But my Kingdom is not of this world.”

John 18: 36

There are so many of you out there, struggling to get by. You are weighed down by grief, hate, pain, regret and hurt. You numb the pain through eating, drinking, popping pills or just about anything to not feel! You immerse yourselves in an imaginary world to escape the one you don’t want to be in, this world is slowly killing you, stripping you of the will to go on……. It is hopeless!

“LORD, you know the hopes of the helpless. Surely you will hear their cries and comfort them.”

Psalm 10: 17

The trials you are going through are real, don’t minimize them, don’t hide from them, but don’t let them defeat you! Your struggles may be there, but they do not define you! There is Hope! Where you are probably did not happen overnight, it will take time to overcome whatever it is your are facing. One day at a time.. Don’t give up before the miracle! Give Hope a chance!

Yet to all who did receive Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God!

John 1: 12

Surely he took up our pain
    and bore our suffering,
yet we considered him punished by God,
    stricken by him, and afflicted.
But he was pierced for our transgressions,
    he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was on him,
and by his wounds we are healed.

Isaiah 53: 4-5

Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.

James 5:16

We are fighting a battle that much is for sure, but this is a battle that has already been won! You may have heard the term “Give it to God” or “Let Go, Let God”…. You really will never know true Freedom until you take this leap of Faith. So, have a little Faith, God can do more than you think possible! So, I need to ask the question….. Are you ready to recieve Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior? If you are not sure, email me using the “Contact” page and I will reach out to you personally!

Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

Matthew 19: 26

Celebrate Recovery is for everybody. Whomever walks through the doors are welcome, come as you are, your forever family is waiting to meet you. Please visit www.celebraterecovery.com to find a group near you, Hope awaits!

Life, Fulfilled In Christ!

Every man and woman ever born searches for meaning to life. If you have ever given any thought to this at all you probably asked yourselves questions similar to these….

Is this life all that there is?

Is there more than this?

What am I here for?

Is there a God?

These questions, or others like it, are questions in our journey to seek what our ultimate purpose is in life. Are we here to merely eat, sleep, work, repeat? To toil through our days doing the same things, struggling through our apparent meaningless existence.. Or, is there more to life than that? Do I have a purpose?

Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.”

Proverbs 19:21

God! He is! He created everything! He created you! He created you for a purpose!

To find out the purpose He created you for requires that you to know Him, to seek Him with all your heart, your soul and your mind! You need to know right now that He created you with all the fullness of His tender love. He Himself breathed His breath into your lungs to give you life! God loves you more than you could ever fully know so that you can live this temporary life in preparation for something much greater than you could ever imagine!

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is — His good, pleasing and perfect will.

Romans 12:2

To determine your purpose requires that you understand that this world we live in right now exists in it’s current state because of sin, nothing more, nothing less. Sin exists within us all, it is not an external condition it is a heart condition. We sin because we want which we do not have (pride, lust, greed, envy, wrath, gluttony & sloth).

  • Pride – I am better than everybody else. I don’t need help. I can do it all by myself.
  • Lust – unquenchable desire for sexual satisfaction.
  • Greed – Money is not the sin, the desire for more of it is. You cannot serve two masters.
  • Envy – Keeping up with the Jones’….. Wanting what others have.
  • Wrath – Fierce anger and/or hatred, the desire to seek revenge.
  • Gluttony – Drinking or eating in excess. To much of one thing is not good.
  • Sloth – Indifference, laziness or failure to act or use your talents.

“Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

Matthew 26:41

Have you ever heard of the Principle of Irreducibility? It is the process of taking a complex idea and reducing it down to it’s most simple and basic concept. Our Purpose in life must be thought of in this way. We try to make it so complicated, we make long lists of things to accomplish, we make a bucket list. Don’t get me wrong, a bucket list is not at all a bad thing, but when you complete this list will you be completely fulfilled? Will there not be another thing that you will need to add to the list to quench your thirst for satisfaction?

But whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life.”

John 4:14

In an attempt to find the meaning in life and our purpose within our lives we look to a multitude of sources to find it. This morning I did a Google search on “How do I find happiness” and the search results were intriguing:

  • 10 Simple ways to find happiness….
  • 7 Ways to find inner (and real) happiness….
  • 8 Ways to find happiness in your life right now….
  • 5 Steps to happiness……
  • 3 Secrets from research on how to find happiness…..

I found many such websites that provide they keys to happiness in the form of steps. I did the same Google search for “How do I find my purpose” and got results of many such sites that offer a list of steps to “accomplish” the task of finding my purpose. But did one of these sites say “Seek God?” No, not one!

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it; Love your neighbors as yourself. All the law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

Matthew 22: 37-40

It comes down to this….. Can I reduce my purpose in life into this single and greatest of Commandments? That in my journey of seeking God it is this simple? That in the overwhelming complexity of life, the mind numbing chaos that exists around us that in this one Truth we can find our purpose? That if I was to take this ONE STEP it will bring me Happiness and Joy?

Those are very good questions….. Seek God and He will show you!

It’s 2019… But why?

It is universally accepted that today is September 21, 2019….. More specifically that it is the year 2019. It is not up for debate, it is universally accepted, right? Why is it the year 2019 though? What event in the history of the world occurred that resulted in us counting years from that moment?

This event, the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ, is so profound that our entire calendar system is based on when He was born! Any time before Jesus Christ is considered B.C. (Before Christ) and any time after is considered A.D. (Anno Domini), which is Latin for “Year of the Lord”, this often misquoted as “After Death”.

It is as though the world declared that this moment in time is a New Day, A New Year and a New Birth!

We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life. Romans 6:4

The Old made way for the New….. Just as there is an Old Testament, His birth marked the New Testament. So let this sink in……… 2,019 years ago the world stood still………. It began anew, and marked that day as a new beginning in time. Of all the kings, queens and rulers that ever existed, no king was ever worthy of such praise, than to count time as the center of the existence of our world on the year He was born, the King of kings!

It is with great humility that I have embarked on this great journey of discovery! To seek the Truth that comes from the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit! To reveal the overwhelming Joy that comes through a growing relationship in Jesus Christ! That in Him, we are Reborn! 2,019 years ago “Word was made flesh and dwelt among us(John 1:14), don’t let the precious moments in our lives go by without telling the people in our lives about the saving Grace that exists through Faith in Jesus Christ!

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28: 19-20

Imagine – No Free Will

“In their hearts humans plan their course, but the LORD establishes their steps.” Proverbs 16:9

God is Sovereign…. Imagine with me for a moment that there is an alternative world somewhere in the far reaches of our endless universe that God has created with people just like us….. But without Free Will…..

From the moment of birth you have no decisions to make because every decision before you has been chosen for you. What time you wake up, what time you go to sleep. What you will eat, when you will eat it. What you will wear and how you will wear it. What you will say, how you will say it and who you will say it to is decided for you. What you will think, what you will do and why you will do it are already predetermined by a sovereign God. There are no choices for you to make because you are not free to make them. If such a world exists that was created by God, there would no evil, no pain and no death. If you are not free to make choices, then no consequences exist. If you cannot choose to hurt somebody, no pain exists and if no pain exists, then death could not exist. If this world existed you would be FREE from all the evil, pain and death that surrounds us today!

In this world, you are not free at all!

In this imagined alternate world, you are not allowed to be unique, you are not allowed to be you, because you are just like everybody else. You are not allowed to think a single thought that God does not already contrive for you. You have absolutely no rights whatsoever to do anything outside of God’s will….Nothing!

So, why does God allow evil, pain and death?

There are simply some mysteries to God we cannot know. In His infinite Sovereignty we simply do not get to know. He is all powerful, all wise, all knowing and simply beyond comprehension. So, why do we have Free Will? Why do we get to choose if there is a God who is sovereign?

You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge in the flesh; rather serve one another humbly in love. Galations 5:13

Maybe that is the beauty of it? As a parent, I remember countless decisions my kids made that resulted in just about every emotion possible (joy, anger, frustration, envy, etc…). In these choices came consequences. Our consequences can be positive or negative. Our choices are either good or evil.

God is Sovereign…. He allows us the freedom to make choices knowing that from these choices there will be consequences. He made a promise to allow us the freedom to make these choices, and in this promise He allows the consequences to take place.

God Always Keeps His Promises!

If God did not keep His promises it would go against everything that God is! There is not getting around that fact, it is simply not possible. But, for me, that is the beauty of it. We get to make the choices and we get to experience the consequences. Our destination is predetermined by God, but the path to get there is not. I have been created by God! The fact that I exist is beyond comprehension. The fact that I can write this story is astonishing! This life is a journey. It’s the beauty of individuality combined with oneness with God. It’s a breathtaking dance of symbiosis and chaos orchestrated by a God who is in control of it all. It is about discovering the will of God that exists for you. It is about seeking God.

Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God — this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—His good, pleasing and perfect will. Romans 12:1-2

If we get to know the answers, why take the journey?

A little about me…..

I am a grateful believer in the Lord Jesus Christ! I have started this blog for one sole purpose…. Your Soul! I believe in the Blood of Jesus Christ, I believe He died on the Cross for Salvation of all who believe! This blog is not about me, about notoriety, or fame…. It is to point to the Lord Jesus Christ! We live in a broken world, full of hate, sin and despair. There is a battle taking place, and your eternal salvation is at stake, the question is, Do you Know Jesus?

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16

For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. John 3:17

I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life. John 8:12

The New Drug – Pornography

Flee from sexual immorality. All of her sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body.” 1 Chorinthians 6:18

It’s the secret nobody wants to talk about. It’s not a problem so why blog about it? Pornography isn’t really all that bad is it? Satan is the ruler of lies, he wants you to believe that pornography is not a societal issue that we all need to fight.

Pornography Kills Love!

According to fightthenewdrug.org, the prevalence of this issue is beyond an epidemic. Chances are, everybody who reads this blog has at least once viewed a porn magazine or watched a porn video, whether it be soft porn or the the very degrading hard porn; only you know the truth.

Pornography by the numbers (this should shock you):

  • According to a study of just one website, Pornhub, enough porn was watched in 2016 on this site that would fill 194,000,000 USB flash drives.
  • in 2017 alone, Pornhub got 28.5 BILLION visits. That is 1,000 visits per second, or 78.1 million a day.
  • More than 5,517,748,800 hours of porn were watched on just this one site in 2018. that is equal to 629,880 years of content consumed in 1 year….. On just one site!

I was about 8 years old when I was first introduced to my first porn magazine. It was in a fort that we built at the end of the street in our friend’s yard. I had not even gone through puberty and I was looking at a magazine that was already destroying the way I see women and sexual purity. The years that followed were times of confusion, shame and at the same time exhilaration; looking back, it destroyed my childhood. It framed the basis of how every one of my future relationships would be….. All about me, all about my needs, all about my desires. It was about my need for sex…. When I wanted it, how I wanted it.

Flee the evil desires of youth and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart” 2 Timothy 2:22

But why is it such a problem? Why couldn’t you just say no more and just stop? That is such a difficult question to answer for everybody. For me, it was an addiction. It was a rush. I had an imaginary woman who would never deny me, would always be there for me, would never degrade me, never tell me I wasn’t good enough. I could do anything to her and she would never say no. It was a dark abyss of lies! Again, every relationship that I had through the years were all centered around sex. The more the better! It went against everything that God intended sex to be, and I didn’t care…..

What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from the body that is subject to death?” Romans 7:24

My first marriage lasted 9 months. We both were very much addicted to sex. That is what our marriage was all about. We did not know how to discuss issues within our relationship. We didn’t know how to love each other, we were in lust, not in love. It was ironic that the reason I decided to end the marriage was because she cheated on me. It was a few years later that God placed in my life the one whom my soul belonged to!

I found the one whom my soul loves.” Song of Solomon 3:4

God is Good! In 1996 I met Michelle at the job of which I am still employed, she was my trainer. We married in 1998 and still are married today (yes, she is still training me). God knew that my heart was in desperate need of healing from the wounds that Satan had caused from his lies of sexual immorality. Michelle was the wife God intended for me for so many reasons. You see, my wife, unknown to me at the time, was damaged by sexual abuse in her childhood. Her views of relationships were destroyed by abuse at the hands of a step-father who should have protected her, instead the sexual sins of this man caused irreparable damage. Here we are, a sexual addicted man married to a sexually damaged woman. God is Good!

He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds” Psalm 147:3

Early in our marriage, there was lots of selfishness on my part and co-dependency on her part. Looking back, I was ashamed of how I treated her. It wasn’t until we were married 19 years that things truly unraveled. It was after years of enabling my selfish desires and a significant alcohol addiction that my wife had enough and told me to leave the home to get help…… To get right with God. I was destroyed! I had utterly ruined my marriage because of my sexual addiction and alcoholism! I thought it was over. I had nowhere to go. I could have chosen the bottle and continued on the path of self-destruction (which would have certainly led to my untimely death), or I could chose the path towards The Light…… I Chose The Light!

Have mercy on me, O God,
    according to your unfailing love;
according to your great compassion
    blot out my transgressions.
Wash away all my iniquity
and cleanse me from my sin.

For I know my transgressions,
and my sin is always before me.
Against you, you only, have I sinned
    and done what is evil in your sight;
so you are right in your verdict
    and justified when you judge.

Psalm 51: 1-4

It was at this time in my life that I truly reached a crossroad. Jesus or Death! I chose to go through the Cross! Jesus Christ died on the cross to bear the sins of the world! Picture this…. If you were the only person in the world, Jesus would have died on that same cross just for you! I read Psalm 51 (which you can too with this link). I absorbed the Words that David so beautifully put before me. That a shameful man like myself would even be forgivable by anybody! In these verses was Hope, Forgiveness and Love! God took the dark hardened heart that once beat in my chest and replaced it with a heart filled with The Holy Spirit! It was a New Life! The moment that I completely surrendered to God’s will for my life I have not had the desire to drink, nor have I wasted my life away through the sins of Pornography!

It has been 857 days since I last had a drink or watched any pornography! Praise God!

God works miracles every day! He did it for me and he can do it for you too! I forgave myself for the sins of the past, Jesus forgave me and my wife has forgiven me. I am walking in the Light of Grace and my message is clear, you can too! We easily forget that we all are prone to this sin…. Wait, how could you say that?

“The Fall” – When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it. Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves. Genesis 3: 6-7

We all are naked and afraid. We are in a broken world that is in need of Redemption! We all struggle with sin, but most of us simply don’t know that the battle has already been won! His name is Jesus…. Do you know Him?

If you are struggling with sin, no matter what that sin may be, there is Hope! If this is you, I strongly encourage you to consider Celebrate Recovery! Celebrate Recovery is a Christ-centered, 12 step recovery program for anyone struggling with hurt, pain or addiction of any kind. Celebrate Recovery is a safe place to find community and freedom from the issues that are controlling our life. Find a Recovery Group near you today!

I am the True Vine! – John 15 : 1-17

As you read through the passages of John 15 here, you have to grasp the importance of Jesus using one single word – Remain! In my Bible translation (NIV), Jesus uses the word “remain” eight (8) times to describe how we ought to live our lives in relation to our Lord and Savior. In other translations is the word “abide”. But what does it really mean to remain or abide in Jesus? To better help clarify the importance of why He used this word you need to know the definition of the word “remain” or “abide”.

Remain: to stay in the same place or with the same person or group : to stay after others have gone. Abide: to continue in a place; to wait for.

How do these amazing verses tie into the issues of our Identity?

Identity confusion is a lack of self-worth. It’s not being comfortable in your own skin.  It’s telling yourself that it was a mistake that you were made the way you are…….. It’s saying God created you wrong.  Let’s take it to the next level. Sexual Identity confusion is about sexual sin. It’s about changing your sexual orientation so that you can enjoy sex contrary to how God intended it to be. Sex is for reproduction and marital enjoyment, the world has made it into an abhorrent act. Let’s be clear, some people want to change their sexual identity so that the sexual sin they are living in is more enjoyable.

It absolutely breaks my heart to see people struggling with who they are. That they feel incomplete and inadequate with the way God created them.  Its simple, they either don’t know God, or the God they know is absolutely twisted by the pain and anguish they feel from sexual abuse. They simply don’t know who they are in Christ because the Christ they know is based on hurts, pain and devistating abuse at the hands of people who were supposed to love them. They are confused because their idea of love is warped by the sin of others.

If they come to know what true love is, the Love of God, the confusion of who they are would be changed forever!

If you knew just how much God really loves you, that He cares about you so very much, you would never doubt that He created you perfectly just the way you are! If you seek God with all of your heart and soul, you will find such a complete Joy that is so overwhelming and satisfying! Remain in God and you will never be confused as to who you are and what endless Love really is. What we seek is happiness, what He gives us so much more….. Joy!

Jesus said “I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.”

Stop struggling with who you are, God already knows who you are, He created you and He wants a relationship with you and you alone! Find Him and He will show you who He created you too be…… You Are A Child of God!

Legalism within the Body of Christ

It’s now 2019. I just wanted to point that out. Women’s Suffrage was a movement for their right to vote that began as early as 1912, some nearly 100 years ago. Today we see women’s struggle to fight for equal right’s in the workplace, to be clear I agree with.

Yesterday I was faced with a very troubling conversation by a female parishioner at our church. She brought up her opinion that women should not serve as an Usher at our church, of which we have one. She wanted me to know that women should not serve because they should not be involved with our time of offering and collecting the offering. Needless to say, I was taken aback. I was speechless (for those who know me, that is very rare).

Her comments brought to my heart several bigger picture questions than I am even capable of answering, but allow me to try.

An Usher at our church is there to serve the guest’s that walk through our doors. They are to greet them, make them feel welcome, be a valuable resource and above all, show the Love and Grace of God to all who come. I searched high and low in the bible and cannot find any references about women not being allowed to serve in the capacity as an “usher”. There are things to say about Serving in a position of authority, but that is a different matter, not at the heart of this particular discussion. What I found an abundance of, is verses that touch on how we are called to serve, of which these two are perfect examples of:

This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of God’s people but also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God”.
2 Corinthians 9:12

“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s Grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To Him be the Glory and the Power for ever and ever. Amen”
1 Peter 4:10-11

Both verses point out two things…. Serve Others…… Give thanks and the glory to God. Might I also point out that the critical comments made by the parishioner may not be, in a matter of speaking, words uttered by our Lord and Savior.

Another extremely critical point to be made is that we, the people, are the Church and the Body of Christ! The Church not the buildings, the facilities or the coffee that is served. This point is so easily overlooked. I don’t go to church, I am the Church! Church is not a 2 hour event every Sunday, it is a way of life, it is the essence of who I am in Christ! I must look at everybody who I come into contact with through the eyes of Jesus Christ!
Am I graceful?
Am I judgmental?
Am I critical?
Am I being legalistic?
That is me too! Something about calling the kettle black come to mind?

How are we, the Church, going to get people to come through the doors to experience the awesome power of God in our lives when we cannot accept a woman as an usher? Jesus said in Matthew 5:13, “You are the salt of the earth”. How can we be the salt of the earth when we are causing strife within the walls of His Church, within our hearts, within our worldly views of who should and should not serve?

I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life.” John 8:11

We go to church on Sunday’s because we are all broken and sinful people in need of salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ! We cannot grow in Christ if we cannot remove the wordly thinking from our hearts. We need to allow God’s illuminating power of love, acceptance and grace to permeate every part of us. We need to embrace the most clearest message that a church must proclaim…. Come as you are, Jesus will take care of the rest! Let the deep penetrating truths in these next verses clearly show you what the Body of Christ is and how we all belong to it through Faith in our Lord Jesus!

For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned. For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith; if service, in our serving; the one who teaches, in his teaching; the one who exhorts, in his exhortation; the one who contributes, in generosity; the one who leads, with zeal; the one who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness.”
Romans 12:3‭-‬8

Father God,
We so desperately need You! We bear the burdens of our sinful ways every breath we breathe. Give us an overwhelming desire to stop living in the old ways of the legalistic views of the church and fully embrace the Love and Grace that you so freely give to us every day! Let us love and cherish every soul that comes to church and bring them into the fold of the Body of Christ! Let all those who believe have a heart to serve others sacrificially, putting the needs of others above their own. Father God, we cannot grasp the depth of your love for us! Let us, with every measure of our being, give the love you show us to others in everything we do. Let us give thanks to those who serve, for their gifts of service to us are a light in a dark world that desperately needs you God!

Amen!
